To provide easy access to quality social and community services with professionalism and integrity to Afghans in their successful integration and establishment in Canadian society.

AWSP provides programs that focus on the empowerment of women by promoting the equality of women socially, economically, culturally and politically. AWSP aims to provide services to women who are interested in exploring and enhancing their personal growth.

Immigrants Settlement and Adaptation Program (ISAP) is designed to promote and deliver direct settlement services and outreach to newcomers and recent arrivals as immigrants and refugees in Ontario.AAO ISAP services have focused on Asian, South Asian, South-East Asian and West Asian newcomers and recent arrivals (Afghan, Pakistani, Iranian Indian, and Chinese immigrants) who are in need of settlement initial needs and adaptation services in Toronto and surrounding areas.

Since 1985 AAO has sponsored over 12,500 Afghan refugees in partnership with CIC. We sponsor refugees from all over the world under the Private Sponsorship Program certain conditions apply. Ultimately, to help to develop responsible and productive citizens to further enrich both the Afghan community in Ontario and the multi-cultural mosaic of the Province.

AAO Seniors Program aims to assist Afghan Seniors and find innovative ways for seniors to continue to play an important role in the Afghan Community. AAO Seniors Program runs by seniors for seniors. The program provides peer support, networking, social engagement, information, counselling, referrals, workshops and group sessions on elder abuse, health, financial, and other topics of interests to seniors.

AAO is one of the oldest organizations which provide settlement and integration services to new arrival. AAO is also one of the leading non profit organizations that provide student placement and co op opportunities to students. The aim of the program is to enhance the education experience through practical experience. It is designed for undergraduate students with limited work experience who have a sound academic standing in Settlement and immigration studies. Currently this program is in collaboration with Gorge Brown College, Seneca, York University and UofT.

Volunteers play a vital role in every facet of our services. Volunteers are AAO’s strength and AAO has Afghan and non-Afghan volunteers who contribute thousands of hours each year and share their talents to help us reach our goals. Through their contributions-administrative support, event planning and delivery translation, interpretation, graphic design, TV Program, resource persons, and fundraising support-volunteers learned new skills, made new connections and experienced personal achievement.

AAO Youth Cafe is a new program for youth through Afghan Association of Ontario. This program is designed for youth who are interested in networking with other Afghan youth. The focus of the program is on youth development and youth leadership and disability-related components necessary for youth to participate fully in all aspects of their lives and society. At “AAO Youth Café”, youth will be given the opportunity to come together on the first Sunday of every month to participate in youth activities, have a fresh catered lunch and share their views on many heated discussion topics.
